The department of Physics of Brindaban Govt. College, Habiganj started its activities in session 1960-1961, as a subject of I. Sc course. In session 1967-1968, it was included in the B.Sc. (pass) course. B.Sc. Honours in Physics was started in 1998-1999 session under the National University. After that Masters final year course was opened at 2017-2018 session. Now there are 105 seats in Honours and 50 seats in Masters in this department. In this department there is one post for associate professor, one post for assistant professor, two posts for lecturers and one post for demonstrator. The department is in the 2nd floor of the Science building of Brindaban Govt. College. The department is rich with its laboratory and seminar library. Sufficient apparatus are available in the laboratory. There are three computers in the seminar library for the students.
